"No Refuslal" Program Nabs Suspected Drunk Drivers

The District Attorney''s "No Refusal" program over the holiday weekend nabbed several people accused of drunk driving.

The "No Refusal" program uses blood tests from suspects if they refused a breathalyzer at the scene.  The police can get a warrant for the blood very quickly  from a judge ready to issue the warrants.  Officials tell us the program came into play 8 times this weekend.  No word on how many total DWI's happened this weekend, but Assistant Criminal District Attorney Tom Brummett says the program worked just like it should.

"The old way was once they refused the breath test, they said ok and booked them into the jail and they went on.  And we didn't have probably *the most critical piece of evidence to prosecute those cases.  Now, we do have it."
 
Brummett says they plan on using the blood alcohol program again on other prominent holiday weekends.
