Recent dog attacks have prompted one Lubbock County man into finding a creative way to keep his farm animals safe from predators. Terry Boatman raises goats in east Lubbock County. His herd was attacked about two years ago. Luckily only one goat was injured, but this prompted Boatman to buy four Pyrenees dogs. At well over a hundred pounds, the dogs are very large and very loyal to the smaller animals they serve. Boatmans advice to those with small animals is "dont just leave them on their own you know because theyre just not a match for a pack of dogs or coyotes that typically get em from behind and drag em down. Theyre just not, they just cant defend themselves." Boatman says folks can expect to spend between $200 and $300 dollars on a Pyrenees puppy, but its an investment worth the price when you consider the safety and security of your other animals.
