Lubbock Police Search for Rapist

Police continue searching for the man who kidnapped two women and tried to rape them using a taser gun. Now, folks living close to the crime scenes say they're unnerved by what's happened. The first assault happened on July 3rd in northeast Lubbock. Police say the suspect offered the victim a ride, then drove her to the Joyland Amusement Park and tried to subdue her with a taser gun in the parking lot. The victim says he tried to rape her, but she was able to escape. The second attack happened on Thursday at the Town and Country at 1611 19th Street. Again, the victim says the suspect offered her a ride, then drove to a secluded area where he tazed her and attempted sexual assault. She also got away. Women who live near the recent attacks say they'll be taking extra precautions to make sure they don't become the next victims.
"Walk with somebody. Always be with somebody and don't ever walk single handed. If there's a stick, carry it or carry something in your purse ... if you can get ahold of pepper spray or something that can protect you. Don't ever go single handed and always keep your guard up," says Mourissa Sedejo.
Police say they do believe these cases are connected and they're investigating the possibility they're also linked to an unsolved rape spree in 2006. Back then, the suspect also used a taser gun to control at least some of his victims.
The suspect is described as a hispanic male around 6 feet tall, and 200 pounds. He has dark hair, blue eyes, and drives a white SUV, possibly a Tahoe or Suburban. If you have any information, call the Crimeline at 741-1000.
