After three shoulder surgeries this year alone and a fourth already scheduled, Mike Smith's NFL career may be over.  Friday the Baltimore Ravens waived the former Tech linebacker after reaching an injury settlement with Smith.

Smith needs a complete shoulder reconstruction and doctors say that his playing career is likely over just three years in.  Smith played in 14 games and had six tackles in his career.  He was a seventh round pick by the Ravens in the 2005 draft.

He did not rule out a future in coaching or a future with Texas Tech.

As part of his settlement, he will be eligable for the league's pension plan.
