Animal Shelter Might Come to Clapp Park

By: Kristen Kennedy
Updated: July 18, 2008
City council members are still trying to decide where to build the new animal shelter. Right now the decision is between McAllister Park and Clapp Park. Officials are looking for a central location where people will be more inclined to drop by and browse for their next pet, but some residents near Clapp Park say its too central of a location and the animals will disturb the peace in the park. "A pound should not be put in a private neighborhood, and this is not a commercial area. Put it on 50th, put it on 34th, I wont give them a problem," says resident William Berry. There will be a meeting to discuss the shelter coming to Clapp Park. Councilwoman Linda DeLeon is inviting everyone in the neighborhood to come by the Garden and Arts Center Monday night at 6:30.
