The Lubbock County Sheriff's office is investigating the death of a man at the old Lubbock Downs Racetrack.  It happened Saturday evening.  Investigators say a man was hit in the head with a rock.. and fell off his horse.  45-year-old Abel Lucero died from his injuries Tuesday night.

Major Don Carter tells us there was a fight involving several people at the racetrack and they're looking into the possibility that someone intentionally threw the rock at Lucero, knocking him off his horse.  An autopsy was performed Wednesday morning to determine if the rock to the head was the fatal blow or if it was the fall that killed Lucero.

"The deceased was on a horse at the time.  It has not been determined if he was knocked off.  There was some mention of a rock or rocks being thrown.  There's also the possibility that when he fell from the horse his head struck the ground which ultimately caused his death."+

Carter says they have persons of interest in the case and a home video shot the day of the private race.
