"We did approve a lease on a new building which is off of crickets," said Councilwoman Karen Gibson.

Gibson said today's decision to approve a lease on a new building for the health department is something that needs to be done.

"I appreciate everything the health department does I think they work very hard I just didn't see the need to postpone it for two weeks and then do it anyway," said Gibson.

Councilman Victor Hernandez was against all other council members when he made a motion to postpone the decision until the next meeting.

"I just didn't see the need to postpone it for two weeks and then do it anyway," she said.

During the meeting there were concerns over the time span and structure expenses.

"We need to be ready to go where ever we plant by October 1."

Modifications to the new building are estimated at $75,000 versus $750,000 to revamp the current building.

"It's old it needs mega repair it's just very costly to run."

The council plans to work with the department to have the facilities and services ready to go by October 1st.

We've just got to move forward and we just need to go ahead and do that today."

Now as I mentioned 7:30 a.m. meetings will be a thing of the past. In August the meetings will start at 6:15 p.m. in hopes more people will be in attendance.

The council also voted to reject Atmos rates increasing.
