Tech Men's Basketball Non-Conference Schedule Released

texastech2007-06-08-1181341332.jpgLUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech Red Raiders announced their 2007-2008 non-conference schedule today. The fourteen game schedule includes seven home games, three away games, a neutral site game in Dallas, and three games in the Great Alaskan Shootout in Anchorage, Alaska.

The Red Raiders open their season against the Highlanders of the University of California, Riverside on Saturday, November 10 at the United Spirit Arena. Jim Wooldridge, former KSU head coach, became the Highlanders new coach last month.

On November 14, the Raiders meet Sam Houston State in Huntsville, Texas. Texas Tech hosts the Lumberjacks of Stephen F. Austin on Saturday, November 17.

The Raiders make their second appearance in the Great Alaskan Shootout hosted by the University of Alaska Anchorage beginning on November 21. Texas Tech will play three games in the eight-team event. The Red Raiders made their initial appearance in the Shootout in the 1990-1991 season under Coach Gerald Myers.

After returning from Alaska, Texas Tech will host the Horned Frogs of TCU on November 28. The Raiders then travel to Shreveport, Louisiana, to face the Gents of Centenary on December 1. Louisiana Tech visits the United Spirit Arena on December 5.

The next road game for the Red Raiders will be on December 15 as they face the Lobos of New Mexico at "The Pit" in Albuquerque led by their new head coach and former Bob Knight player, Steve Alford.

On Saturday, December 22, Texas Tech will host Stanford of the PAC 10 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.

The Red Raiders close out the non-conference portion of their 2007-2008 schedule with three home games. The Northwestern State Demons from Natchitoches, Louisiana, travel to Lubbock on December 29 for their first meeting with Texas Tech.

The Raiders will host the Cardinals of Lamar University from Beaumont, Texas, on New Year's Day. This marks their first meeting since December 13, 1979. The UTEP Miners complete the non-conference schedule for the Red Raiders with their visit to the United Spirit Arena on January 5.
