A teenager involved in an accidental shooting in Northwest Lubbock County has died and the teen accused of shooting him is facing charges related to the case.

The shooting happened Monday morning around 9:30.  Police were initially responding to a home invasion call in the100 Block of Venita Avenue.  When they arrived at the home, they found 17-year-old Ryan Ledbetter with a single gunshot wound to the head.  Ledbetter died from his injuries late Monday night.  Officials say they now know there was no home invasion.  The shooting was accidental and it appears the gun used was stolen.  They say the 16-year-old shooter is being held on burglary charges for stealing the gun and it's possible he'll face manslaughter charges in Ledbetter's death.
Investigators say it appears Ledbetter and the accused shooter were both involved in stealing ten guns, including the one involved in the shooting, earlier on Monday morning.  They're now investigating the possibility the two teens are responsible for several other recent burglaries.  We'll keep you updated on any new developments in the case.
