The city of Lubbock has been doing their share of trying to protect you and your family from the mosquito borne illness.

Despite the three confirmed cases, some in Lubbock may say they haven't seen much of a mosquito problem.

Well that's because vector control says they've been treating playa lakes since April to kill mosquito larva.

But they say there are still those that got away and grew into mosquitoes that carry the illness.

Vector control says even though there's a low mosquito population in Lubbock, they are working to eliminate the pests that are flying around.

"If they do hatch and become adults and get away from us then we'll spray with an ultra low volume fogger and spray in the air and we do that predominately at dusk and dawn," said Glenn Heinrich.
