Updated: August 31, 2012
Texas Tech basketball coach Billy Gillispie has been admitted to a Lubbock hospital.

We have confirmed that he was admitted to University Medical Center and is currently in satisfactory condition. Officials would not say why he was admitted to UMC.

The news of his hospitalization comes on the heels of an ESPN article. The article states that players had voiced concern about they way they are being treated by Gillispie.

Texas Tech's Associate Athletic Director of Communications, Blayne Beal, said "Obviously we take the well being of our student athletes very seriously, that's our number one priority at Texas Tech, is to make sure that they're in a great environment. When a parent drops off their son or daughter on our campus, to compete for one of our teams, that's our responsibility, that we take their safety, and their well being very seriously. So, we're going to continue to look into these matters and just know that the full resources of Texas Tech will be looking into it."
