Texas Tech is by far the largest university here in the South Plains, and prominent members of the community want to make Lubbock home to one more institution of higher learning. Armando Gonzales and five others will speak in front of city council on Tuesday to discuss plans for a two-year community college in East Lubbock. Gonzales has several locations in mind, all of which would provide an advantage to people living on the east side of Lubbock. People who might find South Plains College too far away to attend. "Their closest campus is on the west side of the county at Reese Center. So I believe that theres a great number of students, a great number of future students, that would be eager to come to the east side," says Gonzales. He urges anyone interested in bringing a two-year college to Lubbock to come to City Hall Tuesday morning and listen to his presentation.
