58th birthday Texas Tech was hard at work preparing during the bye week.
The open date coming just three weeks into the season, when Tech has faced the easiest competition they will see all season, but if it were up to the players and coaches, They would just as soon keep playing, and have a week off later on down the line, when they get into the meat of their schedule.
