Texas Tech University's head Men's Basketball coach resigned late Thursday afternoon after weeks of controversy.

The problems began when players met privately with Tech Athletic Director Kirby Hocutt to voice complaints about this coach, primarily his habits of forcing players to practice more hours that was allowed by the NCAA.

Gillispie was admitted to a hospital with heart complications on the same day of that meeting. He later received treatment at the Mayo Clinic after a second visit by EMS crews to his house.

Gillispie returned to Lubbock last Friday and Texas Tech announced his resignation Thursday.

According to a release from University officials, Gillispie will be paid for the remained of the year.
