Lubbock's proposed visitors' center took another hit as community activists turned in a petition to the city council against the multi-million dollar structure. It has more than 2,000 signatures And is designed to sway the council to change their plans for the center. Mikel Ward headed the petition process. She says those who signed it want a virtual visitors' center on the web, not a 6-million dollar building. Councilman Todd Klein says the petition was well-received by the council.
