Alcohol sales are constantly a big debate here in Lubbock.  But now a petition is officially in the works that would try to get a vote on a future ballot.

The Lubbock Chamber of Commerce announced today they will be forming a petition to try and get the vote on the May election ballot.

During it's meeting today, the chamber discussed what the petition would mean for the city.  And after a vote -- the chamber decided they are for the action.

They need 16,000 signatures in a 60-day period for it to be valid.

They expect the cost to exceed $100,000.  They hope to pay for it by donations, so if you’re interested in contributing call the chamber at 761-1000.
