LFD Deputy Chief to Retire

Lubbock Deputy Fire Chief Chris Angerer is retiring after 26 years in the department. Angerer was appointed deputy chief in July 2007. His retirement is effective October 19.
"This department is better today because of the dedication and commitment of Chris Angerer," said Fire Chief Mike Kemp. "His leadership, boundless energy, and passion will be greatly missed."
Deputy Chief Angerer graduated from Lubbock Cooper High School and Texas Tech University. He began his career with the Lubbock Fire Department in March 1986. Over the years, Angerer has received numerous awards and special recognitions including being named Lubbock Firefighter of the Year in 2001 and the Texas Association of Fire Educator's Texas Training Officer of the Year in 2005. He is also certified as an Executive Fire Officer, having graduated the program at the National Fire Academy in Maryland.
Upon Angerer's retirement, Fire Chief Kemp will be appointing Battalion Chief Lance Phelps to Deputy Chief of Operations.
