Billy Ray Wood Junior, 18, is in the Lubbock County Jail after admitting to an FBI agent that he tried to rob the First Federal Bank in Littlefield Friday.
According to court documents, Wood walked into the bank and jumped over the bank counter and took an unknown amount of cash.
But before he left, the bank's manager grabbed Wood and removed his mask and hat.
Bank officials told authorities the suspect was wearing a Texas Rangers shirt and a Dallas Cowboys hat.
Wood was tracked down and originally denied having anything to do with the robbery but then he later admitted to it.
He told the FBI that his girlfriend recently bought a car for $7,000 but she didn't have enough money in her account.
That's when he decided to try to rob the bank to keep her from getting in trouble.
He was arrested in Shallowater.
