The Guadalupe Neighborhood Association held the debate between Ysidro Guiterrez and Bubba Sedeno, and only a few minutes into the debate, Guiterrez claimed Sedeno got violent.

"He jumped out of his chair and rushed towards me, in a very threatening way, shouting very threatening words, and pointing with his finger, and when he got within about 2 feet of me, the president of the association had to physically restrain him," said Gutierrez.

Things got heated between Republican Gutierrez and Democrat Bubba Sedeno at a forum Tuesday night.  Just how heated is up for debate.

"He likes to rape people's minds with lies," said Sedeno. "I didn't lunge at him, because if i had lunged at him, I would have hit him, but that didn't happen, that wasn't the game plan, I just made a point to him that to keep my family out of this."

The two men are campaigning for Lubbock County Commissioner, Precinct 3.
Sedeno says this all started after Gutierrez made a comment saying Sedeno had not paid all of his child support.

"And I called him on his character flaws, and when I mentioned he had been sued by the Attorney General of Texas for child support, he got really angry," said Gutierrez.

"I said you do not keep getting my family in this campaign, I said because if you don't were gonna have problems," said Sedeno. "Now that wasn't a threat to me, that was pure fact."

In the video, taken and posted online by the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, you see a Gutierrez supporter begin a conversation with Sedeno and his family.

Both sides have different accounts of what happened next.

"I grabbed my daughter and I said, 'Are they messing with you?' and she said 'No daddy no, but I knew she was and I told his daughter, you leave my daughter alone," said Sedeno.

Gutierrez said it happened differently. "He approaches the lady in a very aggressive way, intent on violence as far as I can tell, and he has to be restrained by his own campaign workers," said Gutierrez.

Both sides said they're sorry the debate ended the way it did, and hope for the rest of the campaign stays focused on the issues.
