Saturday's win over Iowa State has earned Texas Tech a spot in the national rankings. But the real winners could be local sports bars who are expecting much larger crowds to come out and support a winning team.

"I think its pretty exciting because not too many people take Texas Tech seriously, so that's pretty cool," said Texas Tech freshman Richard Gyure.

Texas Tech's 24-13 win on Saturday has gotten many fans excited for the rest of the season.

"I was pretty impressed with our offense, and our defense did well for the most part," said Kyle Nelson, a student at Texas Tech.

"I mean I loved it before they were up and coming. I love Texas Tech and I really didn't listen to anyone that said otherwise, but now I have something to talk about so, its pretty good," said Gyure.

Vernon Paul, Co-Manager at Jake's Sports Cafe said, "As long as they continue to win, which I hope they do, we will see a great crowd and it's really nice for us."

Jake's Sports Cafe has recently added a sports package that allows them to show all the Tech football games on TV.

"So we will have all the Tech games from now on that are on TV. It's really increased our business and people are having a good time," said Paul.

This is Blue Monkey Grill's second football season and they say this quality play has been bringing in a lot of business.

"I'd say the majority of our business comes in on game days. We are pretty steady all week but game days just explode in here," said Blue Monkey's Head Bartender Jeremy Graves. "Anytime a team doesn't do well and then they come out of nowhere and beat a team they weren't supposed to its always great."

Buffalo Wild Wings is another popular game day bar. Assistant General Manager Chris Mendez says that while they get a lot of other teams' fans in to watch games. He still expects a spike in Tech supporters for the next few games.

"Definitely whenever they are doing well, people come in come out watch them. Even after the game we expect a big crowd to come celebrate the wins. Especially now that they are ranked we expect to be even busier, especially since they're playing OU this weekend"

All three of the bars we spoke to said they are preparing for big crowds for next weekend's game by increasing staff and their food and alcohol orders.
