The American Museum of Agriculture made the purchase last month. A press release from the museum said the mules were needed as part of a new exhibit planned to replicate farming techniques at the turn of the century.
Now a lawsuit filed by a San Antonio animal right's activist could come with big consequences.
The suit was filed in a Lubbock County District Court by Patrick Green.
Green has a history of filing lawsuits on behalf on animals and calls himself a former atheist activist.
Neither Green nor a museum representative could be reached for comment Tuesday night.
