Interim General Manager Robert Giovannetti says he believes local programming here in Lubbock would be safe if funding was cut, but that national programming would be re-evaluated.
Giovannetti also said he knew PBS would come up at some point this election as Governor Romney has mentioned it in the past, but he was surprised it came up so soon.
"I know that there's gotta be cuts made, but it's an easy target because it's a very visible target, but it's so minuscule in the grand scheme of things and there's so much good that comes out of public broadcasting that it makes me sad almost in a way that that would be one of the first things he would look to make a cut from," said Giovannetti.
PBS nationally made a public statement about being mentioned in Wednesday's debate, and you can read it in full here.
