Roommates Remember Christopher Rodriguez

"Chris Rodriguez was the leader of the party, the leader of the pack, literally the greatest guy you'll ever meet," said Travis Schattle. He and Sean Cooper lived with Rodriguez at Texas Tech and knew him for years.
"Pretty much made me laugh if he was in a bad mood, or in a good mood, there was always something funny coming out of his mouth," said Cooper.
"I'm with him all the time, and when I'd get home from school for vacation, he'd still be the first one I'd call," said Schattle.
On Wednesday night, Rodriguez was riding his moped when he clipped a car on 4th and Flint.
He was taken to UMC for his injuries, where he died Saturday morning. His accident brought friends from all over to the area to gather with him. "I mean it's just awesome, he stuck around for everyone to say their goodbyes, and I love you's," said Schattle. "I mean it was great, I couldn't do it without those guys."
Friends say Rodriguez wanted to be a teacher, and that was where he had his greatest passion, in helping others. "Teaching, you know he always tutored us, I mean it was unbelievable, he just had that gift of being able to help people understand things," said Schattle. "I mean one thing he's done was really teach us the value of friendship."
His friends and family were able to spend time with Rodriguez while he was being treated in the hospital, but they all say his presence will be missed. "There's definitely a big chunk missing from the apartment," said Schattle.
Texas Tech officials say they will lower the flags on Monday, October 22nd in Rodriguez's honor. A funeral is planned for Saturday, October 13th, at First Baptist in Flower Mound.
