Teachers Packing Heat

Some Harrold ISD teachers are getting ready for school in a different way. "It's one thing to carry a gun, but it is an entirely different story to pull a gun and shoot a human being," said Chief Tom Nichols. He says his biggest fear is that teachers are not trained to take on life and death responsibility.
The small town just north of Wichita Falls is allowing teachers with a concealed carry permit to carry a gun during class.
Harrold officials say the new policy is because they are more than 30 miles away from the nearest sheriff's office and are right next to a major highway.
KLBK spoke with local Lubbock ISD police about Harrold's daring new policy.
Harrold school officials say teachers will be given additional training, but there is no word on whether or not that will include combat and active shooter drills.
LISD officials say they have no intention of following Harrold's lead.
