Floyd County Sheriff Paul Raissez got the call early Saturday about the murder of 25 year old Kechi Diaz. The 911 call came from Edward Delgado Hernandez, the man who has been arrested for Diaz's murder. He's currently under $500,000 bond in Hale County Jail.
"The time frame, early Saturday morning, or late Friday night," said Raissez about when Diaz was killed.
According to authorities in Floyd County, Hernandez and Diaz were dating, although few details had been released as of Monday afternoon.
Hernandez is a registered sex offender with Texas Department of Public Safety.
"For a small county, it's rare to hear any violent crimes that happen like that around here," said Raissez.
Authorities also say the woman's body was found inside Hernandez's home, but where she died has not been determined. It may have been inside his home, or in his car.
A cause of death has also not been determined.
"Murder in a small community, a small county, it's unheard of, I mean like I said it's been a few years," said Raissez.
Diaz's autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday, and investigators hope it helps to answer questions about what happened.
