Ms. Wright's Kindergarten class received a lesson in generosity earlier today.
"Well my daughter has asked me in the past well mom what do you do at your job adn i try to explain to her as best i can to a five year old and came and explained that to her whole class"12
Robin Mullins is a case manager for the Salvation Army. Her daughter Macy is in Ms. Wright's class at Southcrest Christian School .
Macy's questions prompted Mullins to come and share with students what her organization does, as part of the schools community helpers unit.
"It just expands their horizons," Wright said. "Let them meet some other people, interact with real people who are doing their jobs."
Their teacher Gena Wright said she tells people not to underestimate her students.
"Kindergartners understand more than you think they would," Wright said.
The Salvation Army also gave kids a project to work on.
They are asking the kids to donate some of their old things to those in need when Mullins comes back on November 12.
"For them to give back and be able to do a service project with that," Wright said. I'm really excited for how they can put that together."
Mullins said they just want the kids to understand that you don't have to be big to do big things.
"They don't have to be grown up to help other people," Mullins said. "And they don't have to be grown up to be a friend."
