The 29 year-old Lubbock woman found murdered in a Northeast Lubbock oil field, Monica Adams, had a history of arrests for prostituion and may also have been a victim of an abusive relasionship. Adams often stayed at the Sunset Motel on Clovis Road. The motel owner told us he had to call police when Adamss boyfriend was abusive to her. Emotional and physical abuse can often be linked to sexual abuse, and the Rape Crisis Center believes all women, no matter what their occupation or sexual habits, should have the chance to break-away from abusive relationships and get counseling and legal-help before its too late. "We cant make someone change their life choices and their jobs, but we can hopefully help them through the sexual assualt and help them deal with any problems that may arise because of that," says Linsey McCutchin with the Rape Crisis Center. The center counsels clients at no charge through the police and legal processes involved in prosecuting sexual assualt cases.
