A new study shows that Texas Tech faculty, staff, and students are generating more than $1 billion dollars to the Lubbock economy. Tech professors recently released the 2008 Economic Impact Study. They looked specifically at how much the university spends, and how much school employees and students spend within Lubbock, and its not just businesses along university avenue that benefit. The study shows that almost every business in Lubbock will see the profits of Techs dollars. Says Tech professor Brad Ewing, "It also sort of spreads out to the rest of the community in terms of more jobs, more spending, and just a more stable economy."
