Lubbock City Councilwoman Latrelle Joy has a bone to pick with Lubbock Mayor Glen Robertson.

According to Joy, Robertson has been publicly bashing a motion passed by the council two weeks ago that will add two auditors and an administrative assistant to the city's staff.

Joy said she made the proposal after learning the city has been working with just one auditor since January, which means many of the city's departments have gone unchecked with it comes to spending money.

"They let us know very firmly that we were running a danger of something bad happening because we didn't do the audits and its certainly not fiscally responsible," Joy said.

The budget amendment passed on a vote of 5-2 two weeks ago.

But Robertson has been publicly bashing the vote, saying he would have preferred to see those positions go to the Police or Fire Departments instead.

"You vote as a council, you move on and take on the next project because these things are constantly changing. to get all upset and, you know, go against what the council voted on is not good governance," she said.

Robertson was not at Thursday's City Council meeting and did not return our call for comment.
