Questions have risen over the last days of 29-year-old Monica Adams, a Lubbock prostitute found murdered Wednesday morning near Martin Luther King Blvd. and Bradley.

According to sources, Adams was last seen at a bar near her home at the Sunset Motel.

"I cried when I saw her on TV," said Debbie, a former prostitute who knew Adams. "It's devastating but that 's the kind of life she chooses and that's what's going to happen."

Debbie said she spoke to Adams just days before an oilfield worker found her body.

Debbie also said it's tough to point a finger at a particular person as a suspect due to the high risk lifestyle Adams was involved in.

Pastor Brent McCay of Carpenter's Church works with people who live on the street and prostitutes trying to help them straighten out their lives.

McCay said there is now an element of fear among some of the prostitutes that come to his church.

"It's a big deal," said McCay. "I think they're starting to even get kind of concerned because this is becoming more common."

There are a total of five prostitutes that have been killed over the past ten years including Adams, and there have been several cases of serial rapes and beating directed towards prostitutes.
