District Court in Lubbock County came to a standstill for a second day on Tuesday after more jurors failed to show up for jury duty.
On Monday, less than 200 people showed up for jury duty out of more than 900 who were summoned. That caused some trials to be delayed.
A handful of those people--about 60--were told to come back Tuesday morning.
Local businessman Marc Majors was one of those people. He says he showed up Tuesday as he was instructed but was sent home after waiting for two hours.
Majors says he was lined up and told he'd be sitting in trial before he and a couple dozen other people were dismissed.
"It was a waste of time," Majors said.
People who do not show up for jury duty can be arrested--something several judges threatened yesterday. The problem is that it takes a lot of time and manpower to round up hundreds of people who didn't show up for jury duty.
