Former Longhorns Head Coach Darrell Royal Dies at 88

Darrell K. Royal, the former longhorns football head coach who brought the wishbone offense to Texas and outright won 3 national championships there passed away today.Royal was 88 years of age and suffered from Alzheimer's disease. Royal took over as head coach at Texas at age 32. In 23 years as the coach, he never had a losing season, with his teams boasting a 167-47-5 record. It was the best record in the nation over that period (1957-76). He led the longhorns with success and represented integrity, respect and surly will be missed.
