1. Obama to Make Statement on the Economy Today

President Obama will deliver a statement from the East Room on Friday about the action the country needs to take to keep the U.S. economy growing. He will take no questions.

2. Washington State Approves Gay Marriage

Washington State has approved gay marriage, joining Maine and Maryland as the first states to pass same-sex marriage by popular vote.

3. Walmart Moves Up Black Friday to Thanksgiving

Sears and Walmart have announced that they will open stores earlier than last year on Black Friday in an attempt to capture more business. Stores will open at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving night, two hours earlier than Walmart's 10 p.m. opening last year.

4. Nestle Recalls Nesquik Due to Salmonella Risk

Nestle is recalling more than 200,000 canisters of Nesquik, its chocolate drink mix because of possible salmonella contamination. The company says the problem occurred in Nesquik mix produced in October but that there have been no reports of illness.

5. Standing Up for Heroes

The Bob Woodruff Foundation and the New York Comedy Festival presented the 6th annual Stand Up for Heroes event in New York City on Thursday night. Performers including John Mayer, Bruce Springsteen and Roger Waters performed with a band of military veterans to raise money for wounded warriors and their families. Previous events have raised more than $10 million.
