Texas Tech has big plans to open a new leisure pool for its students next summer, but if you think its on the schools tab, think again. Students will be shelling out 8.2 million dollars to pay for the pool, equipped with things like a slide, diving board, lap pool, and hot tub. Some are worried about the expenses and why their money is going to a luxury. But school officials say it started as a safety concern. The old pool has a retractable cover and they say, to continually uncover and re-cover the pool was dangerous and took a lot of manpower. So, a new, strictly outside pool was proposed, and two years ago, students approved. The project is scheduled to be completed in June 2009.
