Aleia Humphreys moved in to Spanish Oaks apartments at the end of October. Her lease shows that she owes no rent for October or November.  Wednesday morning, she woke up to an eviction notice, saying she had three days to pay or get out.

"9 o'clock, knocking on the door, trying to evict us," said Humphreys.

Humphreys' said she and her husband, as well as her sister and her sister's husband, all signed their leases under the agreement that they would fix up apartments in the complex in exchange for no rent the first two months.

"They said we were gonna fix them up, like the damage that has been done, to live here," said Humphreys.  She and her brother-in-law showed KLBK their lease, which showed zeroes next to the first two months for rent.

The landlord on site said they have no proof the Humphreys' have been doing the work they claim to be doing, and need to pay up for the month, or get out.

"Because we've been working really hard, I mean actually we got a lot of stuff done, and they decided just to up and evict us," said Humphrey.

The office manager on site did show us the same lease Humphreys showed us, with the same conditions.  We also spoke to the landlord on the phone, who said he would honor what was in their lease, even if he wasn't aware of the situation.

The landlord also said the eviction notice would be lifted, and that both families could stay and not pay rent until December first.

At the time the story went to air, Humphreys said no one had contacted her about the resolution, so she does not feel everything has been resolved until she speaks with the landlord herself.
