Carlos Plata of Workforce Solutions: South Plains knows veterans have skills they can use in the workforce.

"Some of them have had what's equivalent to maybe an emergency room nurse or paramedic level training and when they get out of the military the come to the civilian world and they're not certified for those jobs."

But with college credit programs and training resources veterans can still utilize their skills in civilian life.

"But I think Veterans need to understand that the experience they have in the military can translate into civilian jobs. But they kind of need to learn and work the bridge between those two."

With better medical services and equipment in war zones more soldiers come home and they need jobs they can perform while injured or with certain handicaps.

"So we have more amputees, more veterans with different medical issues and I feel that more white collar jobs or office type work would help those veterans fill the gap of employment."

The Red, White, and You Career Fair has jobs that require manual labor and also those in office, retail, and even logistics. Its all about finding the right job for each veteran.

"We have roughly 60 employers so hopefully veterans that come out will be able to find something that fits them."

The Red, White, and You Career Fair is from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Holiday Inn Park Plaza, 3201 S Loop 289, Lubbock, TX 79423 Thursday November 15th.
