The halls are empty today at Levelland High School after a bomb threat shut down the building this morning. Local police and a Lubbock bomb squad were called in to clear the building. The superintendent says they are now offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

"We have surveillance cameras both on the inside in all the hallways and outside the building so the principal and assistant principals are checking all the surveillance camera tapes from late yesterday afternoon until late last night. We are just waiting to see what the tapes show us if anything," said Superintendent Kelly Baggett.

Baggett is hoping that footage points to the culprit.

"When somebody does something like this thinking it is funny, it's not funny, we take it seriously," said Baggett.

The threat was found on a boy's bathroom wall, claiming there was a bomb in the back gym. Baggett decided to cancel school partially because parents were already coming to pick up their kids.

"Anytime when kids start texting parents saying there's a bomb in the building or a possible bomb in the building yeah they get frightened,' said Baggett.

"When my mom called me I was scared, and nervous, didn't know what to really do," said Paris McCoy, student at Levelland High School.

No bomb was found. Baggett says this crime isn't only an expellable offense, it's also a felony.

"We are working with local law enforcement in the investigation," said Baggett. "You never know who could have done this but we are going to exhaust everything in our means to find out who did it."

"I have no idea who they are but they should really get a punishment for what they've done," said Samantha Escobar, a student at LHS.

The superintendent says classes will resume as usual tomorrow morning.

If you have any information you can contact Levelland Police at (806) 894-6164 and ask to speak with either Detective Ramirez or McDonald.
