Here are some safety tips to consider before driving.

1. Before you get started with your trip check your tire pressure and make sure your windshield wipers are properly working.

2. Check highway conditions and see if there are any detours that you may have to take to save yourself some time and avoid feeling that dreaded road rage.

3. When you are on the road try to keep yourself from getting distracted:

    -Don't use your cell phone
-Use the left lane for passing only
    -Buckle your seat belt
    -Never drink alcohol before driving

Corporal John Gonzalez of the Texas Department of Public Safety said keeping yourself from being distracted on the road will save you time and also keep you safe.
