Chaps Take Down Arlington Baptist

LUBBOCK, Texas (November 20, 2012) - Jamaal Crayton pitched in 17 points and Jabril Durham had 16 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists, as Lubbock Christian University claimed their 12th consecutive November home win with an 82-48 win over Arlington Baptist College Tuesday night inside Rip Griffin Center.
 
The Chaps never trailed in the contest. They broke away from a 4-4 tie with a 12-3 run to take a 16-9 lead and later used a 16-2 first half run to build their lead to 44-29 going into the half. LCU opened the game shooting 17-of-32 (53%) from the field and 4-of-9 (44%) from three point range and led ABC as much as 21 points. The Patriots shot 11 of 27 (41%) from the field in the opening half and the Chaps held them to 3 of 12 (25%) from behind the arc.
 
LCU kept a steady pace coming out of the locker room and built their largest lead of the game at 35 (81-46) with a 1:45 remaining in the game. The Patriots were never able to get in a shooting rhythm, as LCU's defense held ABC to 7-of-28 (25%) from the field and 0-of-8 from the three point line in the second half of play. LCU shot 13-of-23 (56.5%) from the field in the second half and was able to keep the game out of reach.
 
Crayton led the Chaps with 17 points, playing 21 minutes in the contest. Jabril Durham had 16 points along with teammate Eli Baker adding 15 points and Jevvon Hunter chipping in 10. LCU shot 54.5% (30/55) from the field, 28.6% (4/14) from long range. Defensively, they forced 20 turnovers, had eight steals and out-rebounded ABC 42-27. LCU out-scored ABC 48-26 in the paint, 33-9 in points off turnovers and 20-0 in fast break scoring.
 
LCU moves to 4-4 on the season and dropped ABC to 0-3 against NAIA/NCAA programs (ABC is an ACCA member institution). The Chaps will return to action after the Thanksgiving break facing Eastern New Mexico on Nov. 26 at 7 p.m. inside the Rip Griffin Center.
