A Lubbock toddler is dead after being run over by a pickup truck Thursday night.

A spokesman for UMC confirms the three-year-old boy died at the hospital just before 10:30 Thursday night.

Lubbock PD accident investigators have identified the boy as Carlos Gonzalez Friday afternoon.

Their report says the driver of the pickup truck was backing through the parking lot at Kingsbery Haven around 9:30 as Gonzalez and his mother were entering a gate to the lot.

The report says Gonzelez got away from his mother and started running through the parking lot when he was hit by the truck.

We're told the toddler was pinned underneath the truck for several minutes before crews were able to free him and rush him to UMC.

Investigators remained on scene hours after the accident happened but have not released any new information.
