Two Locals Killed in Separate Overnight Car Fatalities Near Amarillo

DPS officers said 52-year old  truck driver, Lyndon Scott Howard from Levelland, was pulling a tanker trailer with crude oil southeast bound on us 385, 3 miles south of Hereford around 1040a.m.

Another car was attempting to turn North on County Road GG when Howard struck the car pushing it off the road into a tree. 

Howard's semi then rolled over coming to a rest in a ditch and was pronounced dead at the scene.

And just one hour later, DPS said 77-year-old, Billy Earl Elrod from Brownfield, was driving a semi truck north bound on a service road on I-27 just south of canyon when he entered a curve at an unsafe speed flipping over.

Mr. Elrod was also pronounced dead at the scene.
