The Lubbock Fire Department was called to 307 37th street around 6a.m. to put out a house fire.
Investigators believe a candle is to blame for the blaze.
Fire Marshall Robert Loveless said the owner of the home opened the door and was pushed back by the heat.
No injuries have been reported, but the house is expected to be a total loss.
