Following last night's fatal wreck, officials are warning people to be cautious on narrow county roads.

Commissioner Bill McCay of Lubbock County said plans are already underway for widening South Indiana Avenue, the sight of the fatal collision.

McCay said the bigger problem is the increased traffic county roads are seeing as more people move outside the Lubbock City Limits.

"The challenge we face is that part of the county is growing faster than we can keep up with," said McCay.

DPS Cpl. John Gonzales said as the county's population rises, more and more people are speeding along what were once lightly traveled roads.

"You have to drive defensively," said Gonzales. "You have to pay attention to what's going on, and you have to pay attention to what the other driver is doing."
