One Texas Tech student is dead and another behind bars after an early-morning wreck Thursday on Glenna Goodacre near campus.

University Medical Center officials confirmed Meagan Rough, 19, died Friday afternoon.

Rough was critically injured in a car accident early Thursday morning on Glenna Goodacre and Avenue S.

Police say Jason Chad White, 19, was driving eastbound on Glenna Goodacre and hit a moving car.

He ricocheted off of it and then slammed into a parked car, and then a police cruiser.

Rough was in one of those cars and was ejected from the vehicle, despite wearing a seat belt.

She was transported to University Medical Center, where she died of her injuries Friday.

White was initially charged with two counts of intoxicated assault Thursday, was booked into jail and later released.

After Rough's death, White was charged with intoxication manslaughter late Friday afternoon and taken back into custody by Lubbock Police and booked into the Lubbock County Jail.

Now I am curious? Same situation as what occurred in Irving , Texas and not as many hurt, yet the football players gets a 500,000 bond and this guy gets 100,000 bond. Brent'[censored] atty is right. HIs bond was unjust, outrageous, and over the top. If we are going to induce punishment, really lets be fair. Bothe drove drunk and killed someone? If I were him a would seek a seperate hearing pointing this out.
