Winter Weather Coming to the South Plains

By: Heidi Waggoner
Updated: December 10, 2012
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the Northwestern South Plains including Parmer, Castro, Bailey, Lamb, Curry, & Roosevelt counties from 8:00 p.m. Sunday tight through 3:00 a.m. Monday.

We have the potential for snow accumulations around 1", possibly higher, in these counties.

Follow these tips to stay safe during this year's first winter weather event:

- Drive Carefully! Leave plenty of space between you and the car in front of you and make sure to leave the house with extra time to spare.
- There is also the possibility of limited visibilities so drive slowly.
- Don't forget to bring your pets and potted plants inside this evening!
- Don't forget to wrap up garden hoses and leave cabinet doors open this evening to prevent damage to your pipes!

There is the possibility for snow across other parts of the South Plains as well, but accumulations will be much less. Make sure to tune into KAMC News at 10PM tonight with Ron Robers for the latest updates on what to expect this evening! Stay safe!
