Grab your hats and boots because the cowboy symposium kicks off Thursday night. This weekend, the Civic Center will be full of chuck wagons, western wear, music and more. Vendors set up today and are preparing for the 10,000 visitors expected at this weekends event. The symposium celebrates 20 years in the Hub City, and organizers say the whole reason for the celebration is to remember and honor our past. "Lubbock actually got started with our cowboy culture and our western heritage so you never want to forget that picture aspect of how we got here," says organizer John Levacy. The highlights of the event include Saturdays Chuckwagon Cook Off and a new trick roping contest. Exhibits open to the public tomorrow morning at nine.
