After four days in the hospital fighting for his life, a Lubbock man has now died after being struck by a hit-and-run driver.
31-year-old John Elam lost his life today after he was hit by a vehicle early Saturday morning.
Now Lubbock Police need your help finding who's responsible.
Police say if they can find the driver of that vehicle, he or she could end up facing charges of failure to stop and render aid.
They say the accident happened around 2:30 Saturday morning near 13th and Quaker.
Elam was walking north on Quaker when a vehicle struck him and fled the scene.
Police say the vehicle that hit Elam will have extensive front passenger-side damage.
And they believe that vehicle could have been a 2006 Dodge Ram pickup truck, but they're not ruling out any other vehicles in this case.
Police hope anyone who may have been around that area on Saturday night come forward to help solve this crime.
"If they saw anything at all, if they'll bring that information to us. There's no way to know whether it's relevant or helpful unless they bring it to our attention. The most minor detail might be what solves this situation, solves this crime," Capt. Greg Stevens with the Lubbock Police Department says.
