1. 13 Possible Tornadoes Touch Down Across South

Thirteen possible tornadoes touched down in several southern states on Sunday and Monday, with winds up to 105 miles per hour reported in parts of Louisiana. More severe weather is expected in Florida today.

2. Gas Prices Plummet Across U.S.

The average price of gasoline has dropped 50 cents in just two months, according to the Department of Energy. The average on Monday was $3.35 and could drop more before the new year.

3. Mandela Remains in Hospital

An update as to why 94-year-old Nelson Mandela is still in a hospital in South Africa is expected today. The former South African president underwent medical tests on Monday to find out what, if anything is causing his current health condition.

4. No Single Country Will Dominate Trends by 2030: Report

A new intelligence report from U.S. intelligence agencies suggests that no single country or alliance will dominate global trends in the year 2030. The International Energy agency predicts that the U.S. will be energy dependent by that time and the largest oil exporter in the world.

5. Highway Deaths at Low

There were some 32,000 highway deaths last year, the smallest number since 1949, according to new numbers from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Abandoned Dog Bound to Guardrail On I-10 Access Road in San Antonio
A frightened dog was rescued on Sunday from a guardrail along a busy highway. Animal Care Services said the pit bull-type dog was found padlocked with a weighted chain to the guardrail on the I-10 access road near West Avenue.
