Kliff Kingsbury has been confirmed as the new head football coach at Texas Tech.

Tech Athletic Director Kirby Hocutt made the announcement by posting this video to Twitter around 5:40 p.m. Wednesday.

Speculation began that Kingsbury would be named as the head coach early Wednesday afternoon when it became clear that Art Briles would not accept the head coaching position.

Hocutt flew to Austin, TX Wednesday afternoon, reportedly to meet with Kingsbury. The Twitter video was posted about two and a half hours after Hocutt landed in Austin.

Kingsbury left Texas Tech with 39 school records and 13 conference records before, a road led him to the NFL, Europe, Canada, and eventually back to Coaching.

He was named Offensive coordinator of the year in 2011 at Houston and then left with his head coach Kevin Sumlin to Texas A&M where he led the Aggies to over 550 yards a game, and a Heisman Trophy winner in Johnny Manziel.
