This is Cynthia Brook's eighth year as a Salvation Army bell ringer.

She recently lost her other job in home health care and now this is her only income.

But of course, her job with the Salvation Army only lasts through December then it's back to unemployment.

If Washington can't agree on a fiscal cliff resolution by the end of the year, Ms. Brooks won't only be jobless; she'll also be without unemployment benefits.

"I just don't know what I'm going to do if I can't draw the unemployment," Brooks said.  "We'll probably have to find somewhere else live or possibly go to the shelter.  If I can't get it I don't know what I'm going to do."
